Rattan

Rattan is widely used as the main ingredient for making handicrafts because of its supply that is easily transformed into various forms of unique handicraft products. In addition to the shape, rattan is also widely used as handicrafts because it is cheap and easy to get. When compared with wood, the harvest period of rattan is faster. This makes rattan stock can be more when compared to wood in general.

Not many know but Indonesia is probably the largest producer of rattan.  In fact, 70% of the world’s rattan comes from Indonesia and mainly from Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumbawa Island.

The Indonesia furniture industry becomes unique and special as a result of the abundant natural resources that are available to be made into furniture. The cultural diversity and high degree of innovativeness also contributes to this uniqueness of the furniture industry.
